I purchased it used from Bass Northwest in Seattle around 1999 and it's been a delightful secondary bass for whenever a fretless was called for. The original owner bought this bass in 1997 from Bass World in Louisville, KY, as shown on the included purchase/warranty card (Serial #5994). It's at about the fourth fretline, directly behind the D string, so my thumb never touches it when playing. Scratch on the back of the neck going long ways with the neck (about 1 inch, shown in zoomed photo).Small nick at the top left of black headstock (shown in headstock photo).I tried to show them in the photo where I'm pulling the strings aside but it was hard to capture. Tuners upgraded to Hipshot Ultralites and the nut is a bone. Being new to bass buying at the time I bought the Tobias, I wish I had not bought it in retrospect, knowing. I want to buy my 'lifetime bass', a Modulus Quantum 5 string in the next year or so. I've owned Yahamas, Carvins, and other Fenders. Preamp was upgraded to an 18V system for increased headroom/dynamics, along with shielding the back control cavity. I've been playing 6 years now, and own 3 other Fenders. There are road dings and wear/tear from musical usage.

Has normal fingerboard wear under strings from using roundwound strings. The bass has been performed and recorded with throughout the past few decades.Original Tobias case included and truss adjustment tool.Made in the USA after the Gibson acquisition of Tobias.ěartolini Quad MM pickup with advanced 18v active electronics providing each of the two coil sets with its own devoted 2 band EQ and midrange cut/boost toggle switch.Pau Ferro fingerboard (equivalent of 24 frets, side dots), professionally converted to a lined fretless.Maple 3-piece neck with trademark Tobias asymmetrical shape (Center stripe is likely purpleheart) - Smooth feel, not sticky.Shouldn't be a problem if you keep the strings changed, but if you are trying to stretch another month out of a dead set, you are going to be upset.USA Tobias Growler 5 string fretless bass I don't like the fact that the bass hisses like a cobra with high boost rolled past about 7. I like that you can dial up two unique tones on the seperate coils and jump back and forth easily. I use this with a Bass POD Pro, so I am generally dialing up a sound for whatever style I am working with. The wenge board also gives a little Warwick flavor with the mids jacked, giving you a little punchy, cut-through sound if you need it. Here is everything you ever wanted to know about Bass Guitars - 4 String Tobias Growler. You can find here every musical instrument you can imagine. The contour switches work great for that. Search our extensive catalogue of musical instruments and musical instruments equipment, pianos, guitars, keyboards and so long. You can get 3-4 distinct sounds out of the bass, but the highlight is the slaptone. But it is great for jazz, funk and most contemporary music. I would not use this as a straight rock/blues bass. I am not in a band looking for a particular, unique sound. This bass is very "professional" sounding.
